Takeaways:
The events calendar is published through a tool called Social Layer.
You need to sign into Social Layer with Zupass, which is linked to your ticket.
One thing that’s different about Edge Esmeralda compared to most conferences is that you will take part in shaping the agenda! Our programming philosophy is to encourage creation rather than consumption. The goal is to create a trellis for your creativity to build on, rather than to package content for you to consume.
With this in mind, Edge Esmeralda is structured as a giant unconference. We seeded the schedule with many sessions and activities to get things started, but the real magic is when you all arrive and start forming workshops, discussion groups, running clubs, babysitting groups, and beyond together on the ground.
This special format also requires special tools to make it happen, so we wrote up this guide for how to use EE’s collaborative calendaring tools.
How to sign in to Social Layer
STEP 1: Claim your ticket with Zupass
Create an account at tickets.edgeesmeralda.com
Purchase your ticket at tickets.edgeesmeralda.com
Claim your ticket at zupass.org
Make sure to use the email associated with your ticket (from step 1)!
When you log in, you should see a folder called “Edge Esmeralda”. If so, you’re ready to go onto the next step and log into Social Layer!
STEP 2: View & create events in Social Layer
Visit edgeesmeralda.sola.day, then click the sign-in button in the top-right corner
Select Zupass from the options, which will pop up a separate window to authenticate you
Select your Edge Esmeralda ticket and click “Prove”

The tools
Social Layer is our collaborative calendar. Once you’re signed in (steps below!), you’ll be able to view the event schedule, RSVP/check-in to an event, and create a new event.
Zupass is how to sign in to Social Layer. It is similar to how you sign into many websites with “Sign in with Google”.
You’ll also use Zupass to claim your EE wristband at check-in, vote in community polls, access other apps, and give kudos to community members throughout the month.
Zupass keeps your personal information private by default, using cutting-edge privacy technology called Zero-Knowledge Proofs. (Week 4 has a whole track devoted to ZK tech and other cryptography research!)
We can’t wait to see what events you’ll co-create! Let us know if you run into any issues!
